Regardless of why the dark circles are appearing, there are plenty of ways to eliminate them. After you’ve eliminated them, you’ll refreshed, reinvigorated and beautiful. Use the following ways to get rid of dark circles under your eyes.

1. Cucumber

Cucumber is a very good astringent and has got skin lightening properties also. Soak cotton balls in cucumber juice or slice a fresh cucumber and apply them to your eyes. Leave them on for 15 minutes for a relaxing treatment that helps reduce dark eye circles.

2. Acupressure

This is a natural Chinese remedy. Acupressure is in the forefront of anti-aging and is used to get rid of dark circles. Using your index finger, press very firmly against the bone just beneath your eyes and hold the pressure there for 3 seconds. You should repeat this process 10 times each morning to get rid of dark circles.

3. Use a cold tea compress

Use a cold tea compress with rosemary tea bags to increase circulation to your eyes. Soak the tea bags in cold water and squeeze excess water from the tea bags and then place the bags over your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes to get rid of dark circles. Tea bags containing tannin will help decrease the amount of swelling and discoloration from under the eye area.

4. Get More Sleep

Sometimes, the simplest solution is the most effective one. Getting more sleep is easier said than done for busy people, though, so another strategy is to get higher quality sleep. Use blackout shades to make the room as dark as possible and earplugs to block out extraneous noises. White noise machines are also sometimes effective. Using the same routine every night trains the body to be ready for sleep too.

5. Use a pillow

When sleeping, use a pillow to make sure that you sleep with your head slightly raised above the rest of your body. This helps to keep fluids from collecting in your face, which can lead to bags under your eyes when you wakeup in the morning.

6. Take care of nasal congestion

If dark circles coincide with bad nasal congestion, the congestion could be to blame. The dark circles won’t go away until the congestion is eliminated, so focus on that first. Nasal congestion can cause the sensitive veins between the eyes and the nose to dilate, which can make the skin above them look darker. There are plenty of over-the-counter remedies for nasal congestion. If it is chronic, a trip to the doctor may be in order. If the dark circles persist after the congestion is cleared up, something else must be causing them.

To conclude, the above mentioned remedies are highly effective in getting rid of awful marks around your eyes and will also prevent its occurrence in the future. However if you do not get positive results within a week or two, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
