1. Gargle with warm water and salt

This is the most common home remedy for tonsillitis to gargle with salt added to warm water several times a day. You can make your own salt water by mixing 1 tsp (5 g) salt to 8 fl oz (240 mL) warm water. Salt water is useful to kill some of the infection.

2. Vegetable juice

Drink freshly squeezed beetroot, carrot, or cucumber juice daily to boost your body’s immune system and fight the infection more efficiently. Mix 300 ml of carrot juice, 100 ml of beet juice, and 100 ml of cucumber juice and drink once in a day.

3. Lemon and honey for tonsillitis

One of the best home remedies for tonsillitis is adding 4 teaspoons of honey, 1/8th teaspoon of salt and freshly squeezed lemon juice to a glass of warm water. It provides relief from the prickly pain at the back of the throat and makes swallowing easy. Drink it twice in a day.

4. Turmeric for tonsillitis

Turmeric powder is having natural antibiotic activity which persist for a long time in throat and eliminate further growth of microbes, that is much effective to get rid of tonsillitis. Boil milk and add a pinch of turmeric powder and black pepper powder. For best result consume it every night.

5. Garlic for tonsillitis

It is believed that garlic and its relative the onion may be useful for treating tonsillitis. This particular food spice is effective in halting the replication process of the microorganisms. As a result, it will eventually kill the present microorganisms in case of tonsillitis. Garlic capsules are available, but holistic practitioners recommend eating the actual garlic cloves.
